Santander offers special current account bonus

06. May, 2011 Categories: Business Bank Accounts In The News, News by Business Bank Accounts 0 Comments

One UK provider of personal and business bank accounts has recently announced it will start to offer a special bonus on its current account offerings.

Spain-based bank Santander has begun a campaign in order to persuade consumers to switch their primary current accounts to the financial services provider by re-introducing a bonus scheme on some of their more popular products.  The bank has announced that it will once more be offering customers a bonus of £100 in cash if they decide to sign up for one of its many different current account offerings.

Meanwhile several of its packages (such as the Preferred, Reward, Premium, and Zero accounts) now carry interest rates of as much as 5 per cent on balances of up to £2,500.

In 2010, the bank experienced in excess of one million Brits sign up for one of its current account products.  Many of these new customers were able to claim the £100 bonus from Santander.

Santander banking director, Nici Audhlam-Gardiner, stated that the offer will most likely be a popular one.  However the banking director did caution that the offer is limited in the time it will be available.

In related news, the bank has also saw fit to add to its range of savings accounts as well.  The financial services provider unveiled many new products as it goes in search of offering more choice to savers in the wake of the global banking crisis and resultant recession.

Santander savings and investment director, Reza Attar-Zadeh, stated that the new accounts will allow savers to transfer balances from pre-existing savings accounts in order to keep all their cash in one place – enabling them to earn a more competitive return on their money.
