One major UK personal and business bank account provider has recently announced the appointment of a new vice chairman to their savings account division.
Barclays has announced that Mr Naguib Kheraj will be joining Barclays Bank in the position of vice chairman. Mr Kheraj will be acting in a senior advisory role to both Bob Diamond, Barclay’s chief executive, and Chris Lucas, the group’s finance director.
Mr Kheraj will be advising both senior executives on several different policy and commercial matters. Additionally he will be advising management personnel across the global operations for the group.
As Mr Kheraj is already significantly involved in several charitable functions, he will only be dedicating about 30 per cent of his time to his new position. The new vice chairman will not be appointed to either the board of Barclays Bank Plc or Barclays Plc, it was reported.
When asked to comment on the new appointment, chief executive Diamond stated that he was looking forward to once again working with Mr Kheraj again, as the new vice chairman is a former finance director for Barclays and colleague. Mr Diamond stated that Mr Kheraj’s experience and knowledge will be a major asset to the bank during the many months and years in the future.
Mr Kheraj also commented on his new appointment by stating that he knows and admires Barclays’ current business and management team greatly. The new vice chairman also stated the he was looking forward to being able to play a part in making sure the banking giant continues to be successful in the future.
No information was available on this time when Mr Kheraj would be starting his new duties for Barclays as vice chairman.
