Barclays announces launch of new savings package

28. Oct, 2010 Categories: Business Bank Account Updates, News by Business Bank Accounts 0 Comments

Banking giant Barclays has recently announced the launch of a new FTSE-linked package geared towards investment savings activity.

he financials services provider has good news for those looking for fixed-rate bonds, as the financier has added to its range of savings offerings earlier in October.  Its new product, entitled the Barclays Regular Income Bond, was specifically designed for the post-worldwide economic recession as an alternative to savers in search of a dependable, frequent income level from investment savings opportunities.

The new savings account package is linked to the FTSE.  Under the package’s terms, there are two possibilities available to savers in regards to payment; Barclays has made available either a fixed yearly option or an option to receive investment income on a monthly basis over the course of a six year term.

The personal and business bank account provider’s yearly option caries a 5.6 per cent rate, while the six year monthly return rate has been set a much lower 0.46 per cent.

Barclays Wealth vice president Lisa Chaudhuri commented on the new offerings by stating that they were created with a specific purpose in mind.  Ms Chaudhuri explained that, although the current economic climate in the UK has resulted in historically low interest rates, the new fixed-rate bond deals have been formulated in order to create the possibility for valid returns to be yielded by investors.

In related news, a retirement savings expert from one investment management firm recently commented that many savers are not doing enough to prepare for the future; citing a lack of savings-related activities, the expert clearly felt that people are putting their ability to retire at risk by not thinking ahead for the future.  Many industry experts recommend having a discussion with an investment banker or related financial services provider to plan for the future.
